Dive In: Hebrews 4:12

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. – Hebrews 4:12

Hello blog readers! For everyone participating in the #2019DiveinChallenge, I pray that you have had time to refresh your mind, and reflect on God’s word. The goal of the challenge is to intentionally spend more time in God’s word, and commit to memorizing scripture. When the word of God is hidden in your heart, you will begin to realize what Jesus meant when he said, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full (John 10:10b NIV).”  That same verse in the NLT translation says, “My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.”

We have a new verse to focus on this week. Hebrews 4:12 is a reminder of how powerful God’s word is. His word is alive and active. One of the names of Jesus is “The Word of God.”

“He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God.” – Revelation 19:13

Jesus is a Living God, who is very active in the lives of His people. The Word of God penetrates to the deepest place in our hearts and lives. The Word of God cares about our thoughts, and our attitudes.

As we go through this week together, I pray that you experience the alive and active Word of God.

*All scriptures are quoted from the NIV version unless otherwise noted. Feel free to memorize in whatever version you prefer!
