Hummus Daniel Fast Recipe

Hello blog readers! I found another recipe that works if you’re doing a Daniel fast. I cant believe I never knew how super-easy it is to make! It’s homemade hummus — and it tastes so much better than store-bought hummus! Once you gather all your ingredients, you can make it in 10 minutes.

Here’s what you need:

2 tablespoons chopped or minced garlic
2 (15oz) cans of chickpeas  drained, liquid reserved
1 1/2 teaspoons sea salt
1/3 cup tahini (sesame paste)
freshly squeezed lemon juice (2 lemons)
4 tablespoons water or liquid from the chickpeas
1/4 cup olive oil
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional if you like a little spice)

You’ll also need a food processor.

{you might have to get tahini from a specialty store. Walmart didn’t have it, but Publix, Whole Foods, or any Fresh Market type of store probably does. I got it from Rouses}



Put everything into the food processor and process until the hummus is coarsely pureed. Taste for seasoning. Add more salt and/or olive oil depending on your tastes. Serve chilled or at room temperature.

**Optional -Drizzle with olive oil, and garnish with olives, fresh herbs (rosemary is delicious with this!), or red pepper flakes**


This tastes amazing on top of a baked potato! Put a little olive oil, salt, pepper, herbs (rosemary and cilantro are my favorites on this) and hummus on the potato, and enjoy! Breakfast, lunch or dinner!

PS – I found a very cool app that reads the bible to you. It’s great to listen to after you read a passage to really meditate on it. I play it in the car too. It’s the Redemption app. There are lots of Redemption Church apps. The one I use is pictured below:


Just click on the Bible tab. It pulls up passages for each day, or you can choose which chapters you want to read or listen to.

I pray for a more intimate relationship with Jesus and His Father for each of us!
